Tina is a very energetic little girl who loves helping the teacher with tasks. She loves playing in the puzzle, block and book areas, and also answering questions after story time. She is an outgoing, socially confident girl.

Sindiswa Masiza

Sindiswa is a friendly and talkative little girl. She enjoys playing make believe games, enjoys puzzles, loves listening to stories and enjoys singing. Her mother finished grade 12 at Fish Hoek High approximately 2 years ago and was the music teacher's star pupil. Sindiswa lives with her grandparents, who are her guardians. She is an only child. Her mother is very young and has just started working. The grandmother drops and collects Sindiswa each day at the centre. She has a very supportive family structure.

Philiso Nqanaba

Philiso is a friendly boy and gets along well with all the children and adults at the centre. He is talkative, loves puzzles, challenges and problem solving. He thinks deeply before answering a question. He has been at Masakhane since 2008. Philiso lives with his mother and his 9 year old brother who also attended the preschool. His mother works as a fabric painter in Heron Park. She attends all parent meetings and is a very supportive parent.

Nasiphi Dondolo

Nasiphi is a quiet little girl. She is currently in the grade R class. She is very creative and her favourite area is the art area. She also loves playing outdoors and is very active. She lives with her granny in Masiphumelele. Her mother is a student at a high school in the Eastern Cape where she is completing grade 12. Her grandmotheris her guardian and shows great interest in her granddaughter's progress. She attends all preschool meetings.

Zubenathi Lolwana

Zubenati is an extremely friendly little boy and always very polite. He is in the grade R class at Masakhane. He enjoys playing with all the children in his class. He confidently answers questions during storytime and morning ring and he is always proud of his achievements. He loves doing puzzles and enjoys most games in the educational toy area. He lives with his mother, granny and one other three year old sibling (also at Masakhane). His mother, Nobuntu, is currently employed as an educator at Masakhane. She worked for two years as a gap year volunteer before applying for the post.
